CANANDAIGUA – Kristen Bloom of Macedon was recently named director of Infection Prevention and Disaster Preparedness for UR Medicine Thompson Health.
Bloom holds a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree from St. John Fisher College in Rochester and is currently pursuing a Master’s in Public Health from the University at Albany School of Public Health. She previously worked for Ontario County Public Health, first as a rabies prevention nurse and then as communicable disease/sexually-transmitted infection prevention nurse. Prior to her time with Ontario County Public Health, she served as an operating room nurse at Highland Hospital in Rochester.
“Kristen comes to us with strong clinical and infectious disease backgrounds, and we are eager for her to call upon her past experiences in the OR and with the county health department as she helps ensure quality and safety for our patients and our residents,” said Thompson Health Executive Vice President/COO Kurt Koczent.
