VICTOR – Athletes with back pain who are looking to improve strength and endurance are invited to sign up for upcoming Core Strength & Conditioning classes at UR Medicine Thompson Health’s new Victor Rehabilitation Center.

The classes are for athletes of all ages and target individuals. Led by Carrie Phelps, who is both a certified athletic trainer and a certified physical therapy assistant, the classes will be held from 7 to 8 a.m. on a series of six Tuesdays, Jan. 7 through Feb. 11.

Boosting core strength helps:

  • Protect the neck and back
  • Prevent future injury/strain
  • Improve posture
  • Improve balance
  • Lessen reliance on pain meds

Participants can take part in as many Tuesday morning sessions as they choose, paying $15 per session as they go. Class size is limited, however. Online pre-registration is required, at www.ThompsonHealth.com/Core.

Affiliated with F.F. Thompson Hospital, the Victor Rehabilitation Center is located just off Route 96, at 7670 Omnitech Place. For more information, call (585) 396-6446.
