CANANDAIGUA – Ferris Hills at West Lake will host UR Medicine Home Care’s annual Caring for the Caregiver Conference on Thursday, Oct. 25, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.
This conference is designed to give both family and professional caregivers a break from daily routines, with information and suggestions about providing care and support.
The keynote speaker will be Martha Stettinius, author of the book Inside the Dementia Epidemic: A Daughter’s Memoir.” Copies of the book – one of Alzheimers.net’s 2014 Top Alzheimer’s Books for Caregivers – will be given to each conference attendee.
With a welcome from Thompson Health President/CEO Michael F. Stapleton, Jr., other speakers at the conference will include:
- Carol Podgorski, PhD, MPH, MPS, director, Finger Lakes Center of Excellence in Alzheimer’s Disease
- Jane Strets, Crossroads Elder Services
- Elizabeth Marsh, MT-BC, education coordinator, Alzheimer’s Association for the Rochester & Finger Lakes Chapter
- Leslie Elliott, dietitian/nutritionist, UR Medicine Home Care
- Mara Kouides, MSW, education coordinator, Finger Lakes Caregiver Institute
Registration is $25 for professionals and $20 for family caregivers. This includes a continental breakfast, lunch and dessert, as well as access to resource vendors and raffle prizes.
