CANANDAIGUA – Journalist Nancy E. Lynch, author and publisher of the award-winning social history, Vietnam Mailbag, Voices From the War: 1968-1972, will read and discuss war letters from her book on Monday, Oct. 12, at the M.M. Ewing Continuing Care Center, 350 Parrish St.
Interested members of the public are invited to join residents of the skilled-nursing facility for Lynch’s talk, which begins at 10:30 a.m.
Lynch, whose maternal grandparents lived on West Lake Road in Canandaigua, lives in Bethel, Delaware but visits the Canandaigua area twice each year to increase awareness of our troops’ service and sacrifices.
Her 456-page book features nearly 1,000 letters and hundreds of pictures that her newspaper column, Nancy’s Vietnam Mailbag, received from troops on the front lines during the last five years of the war, when she was a reporter for the News Journal papers in Wilmington, Delaware. In 2009, the book won the first place gold medal from Independent Publisher for Best Non-Fiction in the Mid-Atlantic.
After Lynch’s talk at M.M. Ewing, she will be available to autograph and personalize her book, which costs $40. A companion DVD sells for $10.
