CANANDAIGUA – Dr. Raymond M. Thomas will give a free presentation entitled “Polyps and Colon Cancer” during an open house Wednesday, March 26, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Thompson Health’s Ambulatory Procedures Center (APC).
Dr. Thomas, a gastroenterologist, is medical director of the APC. His 6:30 p.m. presentation will be held in the ground floor conference room of Thompson Hospital’s Constellation Center for Health and Healing, followed by tours of the endoscopy suites upstairs. The suites, located in the hospital’s Surgical Care Center, moved from their previous space in the hospital in 2013. Refreshments will be provided during the event, which is expected to last until 8 p.m.
Research shows people who have polyps removed significantly reduce their risk of dying from colorectal cancer. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommends colonoscopy screening beginning at age 50, and earlier for those at high risk.
