CANANDAIGUA – This month, The Thompson Clinic at 120 N. Main St. in Canandaigua marks the first anniversary of opening its doors to serve the uninsured and underinsured in the community.
The result of a Thompson Health partnership with Canandaigua Churches In Action and Catholic Charities of the Finger Lakes, the clinic is staffed by a nurse practitioner and medical assistant. With hours on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, they treat patients with conditions that are not urgent and do not require X-rays or lab work, such as ear infections, sore throats and minor burns. Other services provided include pregnancy testing and most sports or camp physicals.
Cost is determined on a sliding-fee scale at the clinic, which serves acute needs both on an appointment and walk-in basis and is not meant to serve as a substitute for a relationship with a primary care physician.
Representatives of Thompson will be at three locations this month to perform blood pressure checks and promote awareness of the clinic and what it has to offer. The events are as follows:
¨ Family Fun Day hosted by Zion Fellowship, July 17, 11 a.m.-3 p.m., Jefferson Park in Canandaigua
¨ Ontario County Fair, July 29, 10 a.m.-8 p.m.
¨ Canandaigua Walmart, July 29, 1-6 p.m.
If you know of someone who can use the Clinic's services, please recommend they make an appointment by calling 585-396-6980.
