CLIFTON SPRINGS – A longtime Clifton Springs physician is integrating his medical practice into the network of primary care practices run by Thompson Health, an affiliate of UR Medicine.
Dr. Zbigniew Lukawski is a native of Poland who completed his internal medicine residency at Wyckoff Heights Hospital in Brooklyn and his anesthesiology residency at Albert Einstein Medical Center in Philadelphia. He is board certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine and has been practicing in Clifton Springs for 20 years, located since 2010 at 16 E. Main St.
The practice is now called Thompson Health Midlakes Medical Care. It continues to participate in the same insurance plans, as well as all insurance plans accepted by other Thompson Health primary care locations, and is accepting new patients.
In a recent letter to current patients, Dr. Lukawski noted joining Thompson Health will allow him to make enhancements to his practice, including the conversion of all paper records into electronic records.
“Dr. Lukawski is a respected member of the medical profession locally and during this time of sweeping changes in the healthcare industry, Thompson Health is gratified to be able to partner with him in order to continue to provide community members with the high-quality care they’ve come to expect,” said Thompson Health Executive Vice President/COO Kurt Koczent. “Together, we can ensure access to a full range of specialists, including those practicing cardiology, endocrinology, nephrology, oncology, orthopedics, pulmonology, surgery and women's health care.”
In addition to Clifton Springs, Thompson currently has family practice locations in Canandaigua, Farmington, Honeoye, Lima, Macedon, Shortsville and Victor. Dr. Kären M. Nickell, whose practice is in Palmyra, has signed an agreement with Thompson as well, with both parties working together to develop the certificate of need application for state approval.
