CANANDAIGUA – Teams are forming for the 2010 Canandaigua Memory Walk®, set for Saturday, September 11.
The walk offers both a 1.5-mile route and a 3-mile route. Both begin and end at the M.M. Ewing Continuing Care Center, 350 Parrish St., where there will be entertainment, refreshments and informational displays for participants.
The Alzheimer's Association Memory Walk® is the nation's largest event to raise awareness and funds to fight Alzheimer’s disease. Proceeds go toward Alzheimer’s research and programs to improve the lives of millions of Americans. Last year, the Canandaigua walk alone raised more than $18,000.
The day of the event, registration begins at 9 a.m. and the walk itself begins at 10 a.m.
There is no registration fee, although participant donations are welcomed. Each participant is asked but not required to raise money for the cause.
Those who raise at least $100 receive a commemorative T-shirt. The teams and individuals raising the most receive recognition after the walk, and door prizes are awarded then as well.
To register online, go to www.alz.org/rochesterny to click on “Memory Walk 2010 – Sign up now!” and then “Canandaigua.” Many teams are welcoming new members.
