Thompson Guild has generously donated nearly $18,000 to purchase a state-of-the-art VeinViewer® Vision Imaging System for the Birthing Center at F.F. Thompson Hospital.
This machine allows clinicians to view babies’ veins using near-infrared light and patented technologies, providing a venous "road map" for clinicians to follow. This enables them to see accessible veins in the tiniest of patients before inserting the needle to draw blood or begin an IV, increasing comfort and efficiency and reducing stress.
“We are so grateful to the Guild for all their support over the years,” remarked Deborah Jones, RN and Nurse Manager of the Birthing Center. “With this vein viewer, we have already been able to reduce the number of painful needle sticks in the babies.”
The Guild was able to purchase the VeinViewer® in part from the proceeds of their Gigantic Garage Sale, which was held in June. Because the equipment will help staff and patients across the heath system, the Guild is purchasing a second VeinViewer® for F.F. Thompson Hospital.
