Magnet® Recognition for Thompson’s Nursing Excellence

CANANDAIGUA – UR Medicine’s Thompson Hospital has once again achieved Magnet® recognition from the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC).
“Magnet recognition is one of the ultimate benchmarks for measuring the quality of patient care because it means Thompson Hospital’s nurses – supported by other members of our healthcare team – are meeting rigorous standards for nursing excellence,” said Thompson Health President/CEO Michael F. Stapleton, Jr., FACHE.

CANANDAIGUA – The Service Excellence Team (SET) at UR Medicine’s Thompson Health recently announced the third quarter winners of the health system’s Service Excellence Awards.
The following each received a certificate and were featured in the employee newsletter as well as on the internal television channel:
• Sheila Brundage, North Cohocton, of the 3West floor in the hospital. Brundage was honored for going above and beyond for patients and their loved ones.

Special ‘Christmas Carol’ Performance Benefits Thompson Patients

CANANDAIGUA – Kim Tenreiro will give a special performance of his acclaimed one-man enactment of Charles Dickens’ “A Christmas Carol” at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 5, at Finger Lakes Gallery
& Frame in downtown Canandaigua.

Thompson to Host Community Forum on Diabetes Nov. 18

CANANDAIGUA – In conjunction with World Diabetes Day, UR Medicine’s Thompson Health will host a Nov. 18 community forum on diabetes prevention and treatment.
The event will take place in the Thompson Conference Center on the ground floor of Thompson Hospital, 350 Parrish St., from 5 to 7:30 p.m.
The featured speaker, Dr. Kerry Graff, will present “Why a Whole-Food, Plant-Based Diet for Diabetes Makes a World of Sense.” Light vegetarian fare will be served.

Finger Lakes Psychiatry Opens at Thompson Medical Center

FARMINGTON - Finger Lakes Psychiatry opens Nov. 4 in the Thompson Medical Center at 1160 Corporate Drive in Farmington.
Housed in the same building with UR Medicine’s Thompson Health Urgent Care, the private practice will be open by appointment, primarily during weekdays but with some evening and weekend hours available. Thompson to Host Mobile Food Pantry Nov. 5

CANANDAIGUA – In partnership with Foodlink, UR Medicine’s Thompson Health is hosting a Mobile Food Pantry on Thursday, Nov. 5, from 4 to 6 p.m.

The pantry will offer perishable foods, free of charge, to those in need. These items will include breads, fresh fruit, fresh vegetables and dairy products.
