Thompson Lifts Flu-Related Visitor Restrictions

CANANDAIGUA – UR Medicine’s Thompson Health today lifted flu-related visitor restrictions that had been in place at both F.F. Thompson Hospital and the M.M. Ewing Continuing Care Center since late January.

It is now permissible for children 14 and under to visit, and there is no longer a limit on the number of visitors a patient or resident may have at any given time.

Diabetes Prevention/Management Class April 6

CANANDAIGUA  – On Thursday, April 6, UR Medicine’s Thompson Hospital will offer “Carbohydrate Counting & Menu Planning” for people with Type 2 diabetes.

The prevention/management class will be held from 1 to 2 p.m. in the conference rooms of the Constellation Center for Health & Healing at the hospital, 350 Parrish St. in Canandaigua.


Thompson Among ‘150 Top Places to Work in Healthcare’ for Third Year Straight

CANANDAIGUA – For the third consecutive year, UR Medicine’s Thompson Health is on the “150 Top Places to Work in Healthcare” list published by Becker’s Hospital Review, and is the only health system in western or central New York to be included.

This list includes U.S. hospitals, health systems, ambulatory surgical centers and home health agencies as well as other types of healthcare-specific companies “committed to fulfilling missions, creating outstanding cultures and offering competitive benefits to their employees.” Hospitals of all sizes are included, with the Cleveland Clinic, the Mayo Clinic and St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital among the larger ones.

Thompson to Offer Free Vein Screenings March 28

CANANDAIGUA – The Diagnostic Imaging Department at UR Medicine’s Thompson Hospital, 350 Parrish St., will hold free varicose vein consultations on Tuesday, March 28, from 4 to 7:30 p.m.

These consultations, conducted by one of Thompson’s vein specialists, will be held by appointment only, with a limited number of appointments available. To schedule a free screening, call the Diagnostic Imaging Department at Thompson at (585) 396-6701.

Healing Pathways Program Begins Soon

CANANDAIGUA – “Healing Pathways,” a program offered by UR Medicine’s Thompson Health for those with ongoing illnesses or other sources of chronic stress, will begin soon, with the option of a Tuesday evening series or a Thursday afternoon series.
