CANANDAIGUA – UR Medicine Thompson Health is hosting a Lymphedema Support Group on Tuesday, April 16, from 5 to 6 p.m.  at its Canandaigua Rehabilitation Center, 699 S. Main St.

CANANDAIGUA –Whitney Smith, BSN, RN, is the latest UR Medicine Thompson Health recipient of The DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nurses.

ANANDAIGUA – Alice Taylor, a registered nurse who first joined UR Medicine Thompson Health over a decade ago, is the system’s new Stroke/STEMI/Sepsis Coordinator. In her role, she will work within Thompson’s Quality Department to oversee improvement with regard to stroke, sepsis and STEMI, a particularly serious type of heart attack.

CANANDAIGUA – Each year, the Thompson Health Guild awards up to five scholarships – each for $2,000 – to area high school seniors who are pursuing careers in health care.

CANANDAIGUA – All local not-for-profit organizations whose programs improve the health and wellness of the community within the service area of UR Medicine Thompson Health are encouraged to apply by April 15 for Mary Clark Thompson Community Health Grants offered by the F.F. Thompson Foundation.

CANANDAIGUA – UR Medicine Thompson Health is hosting a support group on Friday, March 8, for individuals with lung disease or breathing difficulties who are looking to improve their quality of life.

CANANDAIGUA – Once again, UR Medicine Thompson Health was recently recognized by Excellus BlueCross BlueShield with a Blue Distinction^® Centers+ (BDC+) for Maternity Care designation. This designation is part of the Blue Distinction Specialty Care program and to earn the designation, each facility must deliver quality care, safely and cost-effectively.

CANANDAIGUA – UR Medicine Thompson Health’s Wellness Department is offering Mental Health First Aid classes for community members who are interested in learning how to identify, understand, and respond to signs of mental health and substance use challenges among adults.
