Thompson Health invites mothers and daughters — ages 9 to 11 — to a fun and educational class called “Girls Are Special” on Saturday, Oct. 26, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at F.F. Thompson Hospital’s Constellation Center for Health and Healing, 350 Parrish St., Canandaigua.
“Girls Are Special” offers mothers and daughters a chance to learn together, through activities and discussion, about the changes that take place during adolescence. Thompson’s wellness experts and Karen Yax, NP, will discuss physical and emotional changes, diet and fitness, stress, safety, relationships and positive body image.
Space is limited and reservations are required. The cost — which includes lunch, snacks and materials — is $35 for one mother and daughter and $5 for each additional daughter. There is a $5 discount for members of Thompson Health’s Spirit of Women program, which co-sponsors Girls Are Special along with Thompson’s Wellness Department.
The event will be held in the ground floor conference rooms of the Constellation Center for Health and Healing, located on the north side of the main Thompson Health campus. The Constellation Center is accessible via The Thompson Way off West Street in Canandaigua.
