Thompson Health invites mothers and daughters — ages 9 to 11 — to a fun and educational class called “Girls Are Special” on Saturday, April 20, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at F.F. Thompson Hospital’s Constellation Center for Health and Healing, 350 Parrish St., Canandaigua.
“Girls Are Special” offers mothers and daughters a chance to learn together about the changes that take place during adolescence through activities and discussion. Thompson’s wellness experts and Jillian Babu, M.D., will discuss physical and emotional changes, diet and fitness, stress, safety, relationships and positive body image. There will also be prize drawings and giveaways.
Space is limited and reservations are required. The cost — which includes lunch, snacks and materials — is $35 for one mother and daughter and $5 for each additional daughter. There is a $5 discount for members of Thompson Health’s Spirit of Women program, which co-sponsors Girls Are Special along with Thompson’s Wellness Department.
The Constellation Center for Health and Healing is located on the north side of the main Thompson Health campus and is accessible via The Thompson Way, off West Street in Canandaigua. Girls Are Special will be held in the conference rooms on the ground floor.
