Mammography

Mammography is a specific type of imaging that uses a low-dose x-ray system to examine breasts. A mammography exam, called a mammogram, is used to aid in the diagnosis of breast diseases in women.

Our program is nationally accredited by the Mammography Quality Standards Act and offers screen and diagnostic mammography; mammographic and ultrasound guided stereotactic breast biopsies.

A recent enhancement to traditional mammography is computer-aided detection. Computer-aided detection (CAD) systems use a digitized mammographic image that can be obtained from either a conventional film mammogram or a digitally acquired mammogram. The computer software then searches for abnormal areas of density, mass, or calcification that may indicate the presence of cancer. The CAD system highlights these areas on the images, indicating to the radiologist the need for further analysis. The combination of radiologists’ findings and the new R2 Computer Aided Detection (CAD) provides the most accurate, thorough mammogram analysis possible.

For your convenience, mammography hours have been extended and appointments are now available Monday-Friday from 7:30 a.m.-6 p.m. and every other Saturday from 9 a.m.-1 p.m.
